The Sorority Soldier bought a pair of flip-flops for $109. Her defense is she’s going to wear them while walking around London and France for 14 days. It’s a quasi-legit reason because London involves a lot of walking. However, I feel she violated two cardinal rules of woman’s shoe shopping, she paid full price, and she paid $109 for flip-flops. I can’t imagine paying $109 for flip-flops. I worry that now this will challenge my wife to purchase $109 flip-flops while I’m away. This is the stress of a public affairs soldier in Iraq in 2009.
Since most of our unit is mostly male, I figure most of my readers are female. I don’t usually openly solicit for comments, but ladies feel free to defend the Sorority Soldier below.
While you’re thinking of how to light me up, enjoy the artistry of McLovin. He put these dry-erase drawings of the Sorority Soldier’s boyfriend all around her cube. One is even on the ceiling.
Update:I have a trouble ticket in to my web host. If you want to leave a comment without logging into the site, leave the website portion blank. It should work then. If you feel so inclined to comment and this stupid site won’t let you, email me at adam[at]stonereportblog.com and I’ll post it for you.

I do have a pair of boots (that you like by the way) that cost $175. I’ve had them since 2002. I still wear them. Quality in cash usually equals quantity in years.
By the way, thanks for the boots Mom and Daddy
As a female, I fully understand the notion of paying $109 for a pair of flip flops. If they are attractive, comfortable and good quality – i’d be tempted too. Plus, SS is making plenty of money and has no kids or husbands to spend it on.
As a married female, i have no doubt that SSG Sassypants would punch me in the face if I ever spent that much on anything – unless it was a tool or gigantic box of cigars.
That’s why i don’t tell him everything. Like the fact that I have a $120 wallet.
Girls like to buy nice things.
We are good at rationalization.
I bet Kristen will use her flip flops and I will use my wallet more than Sassypants will use his air compressor or shop vac.
So there.
The End.
I liked the parade story–pretty funny. And, just so you know, I would never ever in my life pay 109 for a pair of sandals, but that probably has something to do with our parents!! haha (oh, and the fact that we don’t have that kind of cash…)
I’ll have a full report of how comfy my shoes are when I get back from my travels. I have a feeling I’ll be very happy with my purchase of ouikoi flip flops and very cute birkenstocks (only $60). And by the way ladies, for those of you who don’t know, TyTy doesn’t give “Kreg” or “Craig” justice. He’s way hotter than those pics give him credit.
Leslie and Sarah – I know you’d understand. I paid $250 for my Frye boots in California and will have those for years. Quality in cash DOES equal quantity in years.
I say she should spend her money on anything she wants, especially shoes. The old saying, you get what you pay for is so true with shoes. It will only be a bummer if she gets blisters, but hey if they are cute, that may not matter either.
I think the flip-flops are cute!!! One thing I know are flip-flops; I love wearing flip-flops. There is a catalog company named Massey’s that sells great shoes from flip-flops to dress shoes. You might want to check it out Kristen. www. Masseys.com You can request a catalog mailed to you as well. They sell all the name brands and are very high quality shoes. All the woman are correct, if you buy good quality made shoes, they will last a lifetime. That is my two cents from an Italian Mom.
Any woman trying to justify $109 flip flops should be forced to ruck 25 miles in them with a full combat load. $109 for flip flops, seriously?
Well all I can say is where is my pair?
